Maria Iñiguez, fondly known as Trini, never imagined her path would lead from cosmetology to organic farming.
Her brother Jose was the farmer of the family, with a dream of transitioning his strawberry farm to organic. When Jose unexpectedly passed away in 2015, Maria stepped in to carry his dream forward, honor his memory, and stay close to the ranch he loved.
In 2016, Maria created Arroyo Grande Berry Farm with no farming experience and no one to teach her. Through dedication, trial and error, and deep respect for the land, she built the farm around fresh organic berries, seasonal produce, and careful crop rotation.
Located in Arroyo Grande, about 20 minutes south of San Luis Obispo, the farm sits on a mesa near the ocean. Cool morning breezes and steady coastal temperatures help create a unique microclimate that supports the flavor, color, and quality of the harvest.
Today, AG Berry Farm grows organic strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, green beans, tomatoes, and specialty harvests like golden raspberries and pineberries when available.
